We’ve been trying not to say this out loud (or put it into print!), but the time has come for ABE to say goodbye to Alia Qatarneh, soon-to-be-former director of ABE Massachusetts. Alia has been a powerful force in the ABE community at all levels. She has consistently been a leader in shaping ABE programming, whether she is working with her teachers to test and pilot new curricula, advancing equity within the ABE Program Office and across program sites, kicking off international meetings with her unique science raps, supporting an incredibly tight-knit teacher community within ABE MA, or being a warm and generous host for countless ABE meetings (rooftop tour of Harvard, anyone?). She is leaving some big shoes to fill, but we wish her joy and success as she begins her journey to a Doctorate in Education Leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education starting in September. Keep on running toward your dreams—you have been a trailblazer in so many ways, and we know you will continue to do great things!
